Margie Henry is a dynamic product manager with a passion for lifelong learning and building impactful solutions. Her journey began in the nonprofit sector, where she designed data collection programs to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for human services organizations. Over time, her curiosity led her to explore data analytics roles, where she thrived in unblocking engineering teams, aligning projects with business goals, and driving strategic initiatives. Wanting to automate common analytics reports, Margie began learning Python.

Applying what she learned through online classes, and while doing side-projects for small businesses, Margie soon picked up enough skills to get her first job in software engineering. With great managers and mentors, and the luck to have worked at a company that encourages and rewards technical exploration Margie was able to hone skills in what would become data engineering while getting deeply engaged in data governance and ethics.

In 2020, Margie accepted an Engineering Product & Program Manager role within Apple’s Machine Learning Platform Technology group. After a year of not adjusting to the size and politics of working at a FAANG, Margie left the smokey Upper West Coast for sunny HOT-Lanta, where she purchased her DREAM HOME, and now lives with her very loving and creative partner and their 115lb German Shepard “Grizz”.

Margie’s interest in turning data into insight began in university where should enjoy studying Sociology and running analysis in SPSS using the GSS (lol). She holds a Master of Arts in Youth and Community Development, where she honed skills in community-centered and community-informed design. Her work in community-centered design continues to inform her belief in the importance of creating continuous discovery programs that make sure technical teams can listen to “users” with empathic and curious ears.

Gardening, painting, woodworking, and remodeling fill Margie’s time outside of work. Margie loves traveling and has taken trips to Martinique, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey, France, and Morocco since the pandemic ended.
